Scottish stories

A book for Scotland lovers and those who want to become one.

Scotland is a country with a long, eventful and fascinating history – full of myths, magical places and centuries-old legends.

It all started in 2013 when I travelled to Scotland again after many years – without suspecting what far-reaching consequences this trip would have for me.

A small black book was my constant companion in my red backpack. Whenever I came across a story that touched or fascinated me, I opened it and wrote it down.

Over the years, this resulted in a considerable collection of diverse stories. One day, I picked up a map of Scotland and placed a cross on every place where I had encountered a story. When the map was finally covered in crosses, the idea arose to combine all these tales into a book, creating a fictional journey.

With this book, I invite you to join me on this journey through Scotland, both past and present. It leads to historical figures, criminal cases and battles, to curiosities, humor, and also tragedies – and into the world of fantasy and fable.

Scotland may be a relatively small country geographically, but it has a big character – full of heart and stories.

Let me tell you about it!

about the book

The journey is the destination - In my Scotland book you will find a fold-out map to accompany you as you read the 29 Wee Stories (Scottish for “little stories”).

With this map, I would like to invite you to consciously visit individual places and immerse yourself in a fictional, narrative journey – to striking locations, outstanding personalities, and exciting events.

For me, the journey from one story to the next has become an experience in itself, perfectly embodying the motto: the journey is the destination. Therefore, I've decided to also describe the journeys between the individual stories. Letting the beautiful landscape unfold before you while traveling and enjoying it has a very special value in Scotland.
